A bit about me…

Before we get started, I would like to say a big thank you for taking the time to read this blog.

My name is Elliot Reed, I am 19 years old, I am from Preston in NW England and I am taking a year off education, to solely give my passion of becoming a pro-cyclist racing in the grand tours, a chance.

2019 will be my second year as an U23, and I will spend this year with ‘Equipo La Tova’, based in Huesca, Aragon, North Spain (close to the Pyrénées), a team predominantly with U23 riders, and who will get me in the high level races which I need to perform at, to get me into the full-time professional ranks. I will also be racing, training and living in a shared apartment with 2 other British riders, Joshua Sandman and Ashley Towey.

I chose to come to Spain, mostly for the weather and terrain, as I like the heat and mountains. Additionally, the racing scene here is more professional than the Uk, with closed roads, more teams, team cars and service, harder and more enjoyable races. Last summer I guested for a Spanish team in Catalonia ‘Equipo Oleka’, I was there for 2 months and loved every minute, so I am committing my whole season to this beautiful country.

I am supported by the Lewis Balyckyi Trust Fund, alongside my team, and as always, the support of my family.

I am really excited as to how far I can take cycling, my ultimate goal is to race in the grand tours, ‘la Vuelta a España’, ‘Giro d’Italia’ and especially, the infamous ‘le Tour de France’. With living in such an amazing part of Spain, the weather and terrain should also really help aid my training so that I can live and train, as a you would expect a pro to.

There will be monthly blogs, tracking my progress, at the end of each month. Additionally, you can follow my progress from my Facebook page and profile, and Instagram accounts.
